Wow it’s been a busy year and it has flown by so fast. August was one of the coldest months I have ever experienced especially being in a new wooden home. (Winter was colder than normal) We finally sold the house with a delayed settlement in October. The rest of the year was so busy but varied with going to Tauranga for the Astrobiology conference and going to Wellington and Auckland this coming week as of writing before the end of the year. Christmas is ahead and a chance to have some rest from work after a busy time with work and The Planetarium. Roll on 2026 which starts with Summer School starting this week,

May to July - major change
Well major change for these months with moving out of my place that has been my home for 8 years and into my new house that I bought in May. It’s a 1938 bungalo with great period features. I've now been there just over 2 months and Kerry has moved in properly 2 weeks ago. I also now have solar panels on the roof. Work is still busy and The Planetarium has been crazy with Matariki in the middle of everything. Winter has been hard and getting used to being cold in an older house has meant I have had my first cold and cough in years. It's all worth moving into a new phase in my life and being with someone I love.

April and Easter
A short journal entry for April just for news and Easter. After such a long term it’s been great to have a nice break, Easter is usually for chocolate eggs, hot cross buns and visiting friends and family. I have spent a nice week at home this week past and its good o just lie in and listen to the rain. The offer on the house was accepted and now it’s a wait for the bank to say yes. I hope everything goes smoothly. I’m off to Auckland this week to see Andrew and enjoy some time up north before back to the bedlam of term 2.
More next month.

February and March - the “March” into cooler weather
Well it’s been a very busy time as school began in February and the craziness of Summer School, The Planetarium and tutoring starting with a bang. The house also went on the market in February so times are about to change when it sells. I found a possible nice house but that may go so we will see. Donn’s 1 year death anniversary and it’s gone by so fast. I miss her and Mum terribly and wish I could see them again. Well April and Easter are approaching and it’s time for a break soon which I really need and looking forward to. More next month…

December 2024 - February 2025 - End of the Old and New Year...
Well the year is over with 2024 being filled with joy, family sadness and many changes. December is always busy with work finishing, The Planetarium reopening and time to spend with family for Christmas. I have enjoyed taking on new challenges learning how to run a business (with issues) and taking on the day to day running of The Planetarium. Socially I hve been happy to join in with the social group with Jingo and Quiz being staples in my life.
We had a good Christmas celebration's both with the Astro Society and with the social group. Family Christmas was quiet with a smaller lunch (I miss you Mum & Donna) but I enjoyed spending time with family. I was going up for New Years to Auckland but I was unwell so I will catch up with Auckland in April 2025 after Easter.
January has been a quieter month with a nice New Years celebrations at home with a few friends and a nice breakfast in the morning with Sunshine Rotary. CSP went very well Jan 2nd-6th with over 90+ registrations and a small profit made. The rest of January was Summer School (began after term 4 2024) and vegging at home catching up with movies.
The last piece of good news is the house is about to go on the market with Bob (Kerry's Dad) dying in late November and I hope we can find a place in the Hawkes Bay to live in - exciting times. Well that was a lot and its been a busy time so more to come in March.

September-November - busy work and spring
It’s been a busy time with busy work across school and the Planetarium. I was glad to get away in October to see Andrew in Auckland and go to Waiheke Island. I am loving the social group anctivities and some of the friendships I have made recently. The Planetarium is going to open this month so I hope everything goes well as I officially take over. Christmas isn’t far away and it will be a different year with both Mum and Donna gone this year. It’s been getting warmer so a hot summer is expected but that might not be a bad thing to get outside more.

June - August - cold and wet
Well it’s been a cold and wet winter but I have enjoyed being home for most of the time and staying in there warm. Still it has been. Busy with work and the Planetarium. Gary has resigned and I am now officially the director. (Two weeks ago as of writing this post) It feels funny to now be in charge but I am positive of times ahead with a willing team of volunteers and the board to help. We will be closed for the next couple months at least until the school roof repairs are done. School work might change for me too as I contemplate a new role as RLL but I might not go for it with lots if change happening already. I am nearly 50 now with birthday parties happening this month and remembering those who have now gone - Mum 3years and Donna 6 months.More to talk about in the next post I guess - until then.
